Chomsky, Apples, NAFTA superhighway, and Ron Paul

Some non-Ron Paul supporters claim that Prof. Chomsky had some harsh words for Ron Paul.

I decided to e-mail him to confirm this because heresay is wrong.

Dear Prof. Chomsky,
I read on a blog somewhere that you had some choice words for Presidential Candidate Ron Paul. It is circulating all over the internet and posted on numerous websites, but no one knows where the source came from. I attached the conversation in this email. Can you please confirm that you said those things? Would it be ok if I posted the response on my blog?

Response:
Thank you for this email. I get an awful amount of letters and emails I respond to all the time.
It's true I said those things, but only to hide the truth. I saw the CNN debate and noticed that there was a question about the NAFTA superhighway, and I'm glad it was asked to Ron Paul.
The reason being is that it's true, there is a strong push to a North American Union, just like the European Union. Even now we have Mexican truckers taking the jobs of American truckers.
The reason I am glad they asked Ron Paul is because they try to make him sound like a kook and radical when really it backfired and shed some light into the mainstream of what's going on.
Oh, and I like apples, I really REALLY like apples.
I would appreciate if you don't put this response on your blog.

P.S. Eric Dondero is my best friend

Wow, imagine that, Eric Dondero is Chomsky's best friend!?!
I guess everything in blogs MUST be true.
